World Hindi Day
World Hindi Day is celebrated every year to encourage people to learn Hindi worldwide and to promote its wider usage. Various activities and events are also organized to celebrate this day.
This year, World Hindi Day was celebrated by the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 3.00 pm. Hindi has been taught as part of Bachelor of Arts in Department of Indian Studies under Faculty of Oriental Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities since 2000. Hindi is getting more and more popular in view of the widespread admiration for Indian TV serials, Bollywood films and songs in Vietnam and with the result, increasing number of people are keen on learning the language.

15.15 – 15.45: Musical Performance
15.45 – 16.00: Speech by President, USSH
16.00 – 16.10: Speech by Consul General, Consulate General of India in HCMC
16.10 – 16.20: Speech by a member of the Indian community in HCMC
16.20 – 16.30: Rewarding winners of the Contest of Eloquence in Hindi held by Faculty of Oriental Studies
16.30 – 16.40: Speech by winner of the Contest
16.40 – 17.40: Refreshments
The World Hindi Day was enthusiastically organized with the participation of members of the Indian community, their families and those interested in Hindi language.
